Common questions about studio projects

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions producers and technical leads raise most often before a project starts. If yours is missing, ask us through the contact page.

What sizes of studio do you work on?

We work on studios from a single interview room with two cameras to multi-camera news sets with a separate gallery. The right approach depends on your programmes, your crew and your budget. Describe the space and the shows you run, and we will say honestly whether the job suits us.

Can you work with equipment we already own?

Yes. We survey what you have, test it and tell you which items can stay, which need replacing and why. Integrating existing vision mixers, routers or intercom is often sensible and keeps costs down, provided it will stay dependable under live conditions.

Do you only work in Dorchester?

No. Our base is in Dorchester, but we travel to studios elsewhere. Distance affects travel time and is set out in the written quotation, so you know what applies before agreeing to anything.

What do you need from us at the start?

A floor plan or rough dimensions, photographs of the room and gallery, a list of current equipment and a description of the programmes you produce. Details of any fixed on-air dates also help. A short call usually fills the remaining gaps.

How is the work documented?

Every project ends with signal flow drawings, a labelled connection list, equipment settings and operating notes. Lighting plots and acoustic measurements are included where we carried out that work. The pack is yours to keep and to hand to future staff.

Will our crew be trained to run the studio?

Yes. Training and handover is part of the work. Sessions are hands-on in your own studio and cover daily operation, fault finding and routine maintenance. We agree the content with your technical lead beforehand so it matches what your crew actually needs.

Can you fit the work around our broadcast schedule?

We plan around your live programmes wherever possible, staging installation so the studio stays usable or is only unavailable for agreed periods. Run sheets and rehearsal routines are part of production workflow planning, which helps keep disruption small.

How do quotations and payment work?

You send an enquiry through the contact page, and we reply with a written quotation or confirmation. After that we issue an invoice, payable by bank transfer. The prices page sets out ranges, and the payment and refund policy covers cancellations.

Still unsure? Ask us directly

Send your question through the contact page and a member of the team will reply by email, usually with a few questions about your studio so the answer fits.
